Florida Campgrounds...

Every journey must begin somewhere. When we first realized the need for information and products for RV real estate we looked around and said, "What better place to start than in Florida"? From Key West to Pensacola, Florida offered significant diversity and had within its' borders many private campgrounds.

It is also safe to say that few if any locations in the USA match the price range of RV lots found in Florida. Imagine, $300,000 for a basic water front RV lot on Chocoloski Island near Everglades City, or routine asking prices in the Keys over $200,000. Remember these are just lots with minor improvements... no cabins or houses.

On the other hand, central Florida, right up the US #27 corridor has lots with asking prices well below $50,000 starting at Lake Okeechobee and heading North. Something for everyone that wants to be in Florida. We like that. Even in our "beginnings" we will offer a wide range of choices.

Florida offers RVers a choice of season too. South Florida has traditionally been a Winter location. The Gulf coast from Tallahassee to Alabama has been a favorite Summer spot and the Keys these days has both a Winter and Summer season. So Florida has appeal no matter what time of the year you get to travel.

No discussion of Florida could omit the Disney / Orlando attractions and the space coast as well. Central Florida from Tampa to Titusville is booming. Not only is this a record setting tourist center but there are many private RV parks enjoyed in the region.

On Sunday, March 21,2004 the Miami Herald published an article titled, "No Place". In the article they noted that, "Recreational Vehicles continue to gain popularity around the Nation... Even as the space to park them in South Florida is shrinking". Noting the large quantity of Keys campgrounds the article details the hostile attitudes found in Broward County as park after park is sold out. Only 15 campgrounds remain in Dade and Broward Counties (Miami, Ft Lauderdale) according to Joe Striska, President of the Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. As elsewhere, "Wal-Mart to the rescue" in several antidotal stories included in the article.

We believe that for our work to be successful, complete information must be gathered, assembled and finished from one area at a time.  That is the way we are proceeding. Look for the launch of our campgrounds directory  when we have completed a region of Florida and can provide complete information for that area.

We expect Georgia to follow Florida and then we will work our way through the sun belt before heading North and West. We believe this path will accomplish the greatest number of parks and lots in the least amount of time.
